# Connect Raff to ChatGPT

> Add the Raff MCP server to ChatGPT as a custom MCP server and sign in with your Raff account.

Updated October 11, 2026

ChatGPT can use the Raff MCP server as a custom app. You add the server URL once, sign in with Raff, and ChatGPT can look at and manage your Raff databases.

## Before you start

* A Raff account.
* A ChatGPT plan with custom MCP servers. OpenAI is changing which plans include them and whether write actions (creating or changing things) are allowed; check [OpenAI's guide](https://developers.openai.com/api/docs/guides/custom-mcp-server) for your plan. On Business, Enterprise and Edu, a workspace admin may need to allow custom apps first.

## Steps

<Steps>
  <Step title="Add a custom MCP server">
    In ChatGPT, open the apps page, click **+** and choose **Add custom MCP server**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter the Raff server">
    | Field | Value |
    | - | - |
    | **Name** | `Raff` |
    | **URL** | `https://mcp.rafftechnologies.com/mcp` |
    | **Authentication** | OAuth |

    ChatGPT registers itself with Raff; you do not need a client ID or secret. Accept the warning about custom servers and create it.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Sign in with Raff">
    When ChatGPT asks you to connect, a Raff page opens: sign in, pick the account and click **Allow access**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Ask ChatGPT">
    In a new chat, turn on the Raff app and ask: *"List my Raff databases"*.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## What to expect

* ChatGPT asks you to confirm every tool that is not read-only before it runs it. Paid changes also show a [price quote](/products/ai/mcp/concepts/paid-changes) first.
* The Raff order card is drawn in Claude; ChatGPT shows the same quote as text.
* If your plan allows only read access, use the read-only URL `https://mcp.rafftechnologies.com/mcp?read_only=true` so ChatGPT only sees tools it can use.
