How it works
The quote
When the assistant creates a paid database or upgrades one, the first call returns:
If the account has no card that can be charged automatically, the quote says so and links to Billing in the dashboard to add one. Nothing is created.
Your confirmation
The assistant shows you the quote and asks. When you agree, it calls again with the quoted monthly price. If the price does not match, because the plan or the price changed in between, nothing happens and a new quote comes back. In Claude, the quote appears as an order card in the chat with Confirm and, when no card is saved, Add a card. After you confirm, the card follows the database until it runs and shows the connection string with a Copy button. Other apps show the same quote as text.
What needs a confirmation
Billing
Changes made through an AI assistant are billed exactly like changes made in the dashboard:- Paid database: a monthly subscription. The first month is charged within seconds of the create, from the account balance first and then the card.
- Upgrade: the rest of the current month is charged at the new price before the change applies. The monthly price changes with it.
- Downgrade: the unused part is credited to the account balance once the change applies.
- Free to paid: the database becomes a monthly subscription and keeps its data, address and password.
- Delete: the unused part of the month is credited to the account balance.
- Accounts on pay-as-you-go billing are billed by the hour instead.
Trade-offs
- An assistant that is told “yes to everything” in advance can still confirm a quote you have not read. Read-only mode removes every tool that changes anything; see Read-only mode and tool groups.
- The assistant never sees card numbers. It sees only the card brand and last four digits.
