Updated October 11, 2026 A managed database has one flat price: the plan, plus high availability, read replicas and extra storage if you add them. Backups, monitoring, TLS and traffic are included; there are no egress charges or per-request fees.

How it works

Monthly or by the hour

Your account’s billing mode decides how databases are billed:
  • Monthly (the default): each paid database is a monthly subscription. The first month is paid at checkout in the dashboard, or charged within seconds when created through the API, CLI or an AI assistant, from your account balance first, then your card.
  • Pay-as-you-go: databases are billed by the hour from your account balance, up to the monthly price.
The free plan costs nothing in either mode.

The price

For example, PostgreSQL 2 vCPU · HiMem (45.99)withhighavailability:45.99) with high availability: 45.99 + 32.19=32.19 = 78.18 a month.

Changes during the month

When to use it

  • Monthly for databases that run all the time: one predictable price.
  • Pay-as-you-go (on request) for short-lived databases.

Trade-offs

  • A monthly database needs a card that can be charged automatically.
  • Restoring into a new database creates a new, billed database.

Every plan and add-on price.
