Updated October 11, 2026 Every Raff account can run one free database, PostgreSQL, MySQL or Valkey, with no card and no time limit. It is a real managed database on the same platform as paid ones, sized for trying Raff, side projects and development.

How it works

What it includes

Not included: high availability, read replicas, extra storage, point-in-time restore, restoring into a new database.

Pausing after 7 idle days

A free database that has had no connections for 7 days is paused. The data is kept; nothing is deleted.
  • Raff emails you 2 days before it pauses, and when it pauses.
  • Resume it from the database’s page or the list. It is back in about a minute, with the same address and password.
  • A paused database stays paused until you resume it. Raff emails reminders and keeps it at least 90 days.

Upgrading

Click Upgrade plan in Settings and pick any paid plan of the same engine. The data, address and password stay; the database becomes a normal paid database and can then grow, add high availability and use every feature.

When to use it

  • Trying Raff, learning, prototypes, side projects.
  • Development and preview environments that sleep when nobody uses them.

Trade-offs

  • One per account. To create another, upgrade or delete the free one.
  • Storage is fixed at 2 GB; at 95% PostgreSQL and MySQL become read-only.
  • Not meant for production: no failover and no restore into a copy.

Create a database

The free plan is preselected when you have none.

Pricing

Paid plans from $7.99 a month.
