Updated October 15, 2026 A finding is a problem Raff Guardian sees on the server, such as low disk space, a stopped service or Windows Firewall turned off. Open findings are listed in Needs attention on the Guardian tab’s Overview. Each closes by itself once the problem is gone.

How it works

Severity

Each finding shows when it started (“since”). Windows protection findings have Show details with “How to fix”.

What Raff Guardian does about a finding

  • Some findings have a button that fixes them, such as Install now, Restart now, Free space, Restart service, Update now, Scan now or Block now. On Auto, Raff Guardian presses it for you; on Ask me, it proposes it in the Queue. See Modes and permissions.
  • Some findings can be marked as known. This is expected on a new administrator or an open port, and This is mine on a remote access app, close the finding and stop the warning for that item.
  • The rest tell you what to fix yourself.

How findings close

A finding closes when Raff Guardian sees the problem is gone, for example after a restart or once disk space is freed. Uninstalling Raff Guardian closes every open finding. Each finding, its opening and closing, is in Activity.

When to use it

  • Check Needs attention after installing Raff Guardian: the first checks often find settings worth fixing.
  • Use This is expected only for items you know about, such as a port your app needs open to everyone.

Trade-offs / limits

  • Windows protection is checked every hour, so a change you make can take up to an hour to show. Check now on Windows protection checks at once.
  • Administrators already in the group during Raff Guardian’s first 6 hours on the server count as known and raise no finding.

Activity

Every finding, action and result in one record.
