Before you start
- A running Windows server on Raff. Raff Guardian does not run on Linux yet.
- Permission to manage the server (
vm.manage, part of the Project Admin and Operator roles). Members without it see “Only members who can manage this server can install it.” - A Remote Desktop connection to the server as an administrator. See Connect via RDP.
- Outbound HTTPS from the server to
api.rafftechnologies.comandraff-releases.s3.raffusercloud.com. Raff Guardian never needs an inbound port.
Steps
1
Open the Guardian tab
Go to Virtual Machines, open the server and click the Guardian tab. A server without Raff Guardian shows the Raff Guardian card with what it does and the price: “Free for 6 months, then $10/mo. Uninstall any time.”

2
Get the install command
Click Install Raff Guardian. The Install Raff Guardian on this server dialog shows a one-line command, for example:The command works once and expires in 15 minutes; the dialog shows the exact time. Click the copy button next to it.
3
Open PowerShell as administrator on the server
Connect to the server with Remote Desktop as an administrator. Click Start, right-click Windows PowerShell and choose Run as administrator.
4
Run the command
Paste the command and press Enter. The installer downloads Raff Guardian, checks that the files are the ones Raff published, installs the RaffGuardian Windows service and connects it to your Raff account. If a check fails, it stops with a message that ends in “Nothing was installed.”
Verify
You do not need to refresh: the Guardian tab updates on its own once Raff Guardian sends its first report, usually within a minute. The tab then shows the Overview, Security, Users, Apps, Updates, Activity and Settings sections, and the Raff Guardian card on the right names the mode: Watch only for a first install. If nothing changes after a few minutes, see Troubleshooting.Next steps
Set permissions: what it may do
Leave Watch only to let it block attackers, install updates and restart services.
