Updated October 11, 2026 Add Raff to Cursor and its agent can create the database your code needs, inspect tables while you write queries, and read slow queries when something is slow.

Before you start

Steps

1

Open mcp.json

Use ~/.cursor/mcp.json to have Raff in every project, or .cursor/mcp.json in a project folder for that project only.
2

Add the Raff server

Save the file. Cursor finds the new server.
3

Sign in with Raff

Cursor shows Raff as needing sign-in in its MCP settings; click to connect. A Raff page opens: sign in, pick the account and click Allow access.
4

Ask the agent

“Create a free Postgres database on Raff and add DATABASE_URL to .env.”

Use an API key instead

Read the key from an environment variable so it never sits in the file:
Set RAFF_API_KEY in the shell that starts Cursor.

Verify

Raff shows as connected in Cursor’s MCP settings, with its tools listed.
