Updated October 11, 2026 With Raff connected, one sentence gets you a running database. The assistant creates it, waits until it accepts connections and hands you the connection string, usually within 30 seconds. A free PostgreSQL needs nothing else; a paid plan shows its price first.

Before you start

A free database

1

Ask for it

“Create a free Postgres database called notes-app.”Each account has one free database. It has a public address over TLS so you can connect from anywhere.
2

Get the connection string

The assistant answers with the database and its connection string:
The address works the moment you get it: the assistant only hands it over once the database accepts connections.
3

Use it

Ask the assistant to create your tables, or paste the string into your app’s DATABASE_URL.

A paid database

1

Ask for a plan

“Create a Postgres database with 2 vCPU and 4 GB RAM for production.”The assistant finds the plan and gets a quote. Nothing is created yet.
2

Read the quote

The quote shows what you get, the monthly price and the card it is charged to, for example PostgreSQL 2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM, 80 GB storage: $45.99 a month, Visa ending in 4242. In Claude it appears as an order card.

3

Confirm

Say yes, or click Confirm on the order card. The database is created as a monthly subscription; the first month is charged within seconds, from your account balance first and then the card.
No card saved? The quote says so and links to Billing. Add a card there and ask again.

Other engines and options

Verify

“Show me my Raff databases” lists the new database as running. It also appears under Databases in the Raff dashboard.
